On Monday 27th September Harmers of London, in conjunction with Coinex 2021, will launch its Coins, Medals and Banknotes auction with 782 impressive lots that represent nearly 2500 years of world history. The catalogue contains a nice collection of Electrum Stater from Cyzicus (from lot 12 to lot 27) and, about Greek coins, a wonderful sample of gold Oktadrachm of Arsinoe II (estimate £ 16,000-20,000). Many important issues in the Roman coins chapter: a selection of Roman Republican Denars and beautiful Roman Aureus including examples from Pertinax (estimate £12,000-15,000) and Helena, mother of Constantine I (estimate £8,000-12,000). These ancient coins will sit alongside fine examples of prestigious international and British coins, such as a 1762 Catherine the Great Gold 10 Rouble for Moscow (estimate £ 20,000-30,000), a 1820 George III Gold Proof Pattern 2 Pounds (estimate £ 20,000-30,000) and a 1825 George IV Gold Proof Pattern 2 Pounds (estimate £ 20,000-30,000). The star lot will be an extremely rare 1926 Vittorio Emanuele III Gold Set of 4 Coins (from 10 Lire to 100 Lire), only 40 of these sets were struck (estimate £ 125,000-175,000).

The Coins, Medals and Banknotes auction will take place from 12pm BST at the Royal Over-Seas League, Park Place, St James’s Street, London SW1A 1LR.
