Many important issues in the Roman coins chapter: a selection of Roman Republican Denars and beautiful Roman Aureus including examples from Pertinax (estimate £12,000-15,000) and Helena, mother of Constantine I (estimate £8,000-12,000). These ancient coins will sit alongside fine examples of prestigious international and British coins, such as a 1762 Catherine the Great Gold 10 Rouble for Moscow (estimate £ 20,000-30,000), a 1820 George III Gold Proof Pattern 2 Pounds (estimate £ 20,000-30,000) and a 1825 George IV Gold Proof Pattern 2 Pounds (estimate £ 20,000-30,000). The star lot will be an extremely rare 1926 Vittorio Emanuele III Gold Set of 4 Coins (from 10 Lire to 100 Lire), only 40 of these sets were struck (estimate £ 125,000-175,000).
