Attending the Auction

All auctions organised by Harmers are open to the public. In some circumstances we may ask that clients reserve a place in the room due to overcrowding or to comply with Government restrictions. To participate, you may register on the day with a valid I.D. document (new clients may be required to provide business or financial references). Once registered you will be given a paddle and you can then proceed to place your bids.

If you place the highest bid on a lot, you will win the lot and should proceed to pay and collect the item. If you wish to bid on multiple lots, you may stay in the auction until the lots you are interested in have finished and settle your account at the end.

Telephone bidding

If you wish to bid in the live auction by telephone, a Harmers representative can call you from the saleroom and bid on your behalf. To book a telephone line, please go to the auction page, select the lots of interest and complete the request form or please complete the telephone bid form and send to enquiries@harmers.com no later than 12 hours before the auction. If you are a new client please send your proof of ID, address and telephone number.

We recommend that you leave an emergency absentee bid that Harmers may execute on your behalf should you be uncontactable.

Online bidding

All our sales are live-streamed on harmers.com. You may participate in live auctions via the internet by opening an account and registering for the sale. We recommend that you open an account and register for the sale no later than 24 hours before the advertised start time.

Once registered you can access the platform by logging into your account. You can follow the auction live and bid safely with a simple click on your PC, tablet or smartphone.

Absentee bidding

If you cannot attend the auction or connect online, you can submit a written bid to the auctioneer. Once you have opened a Harmers account and registered for a sale you may submit your bid up until 1 hour before the auction is due to start.

Using this option, you appoint Harmers of London to bid on your behalf, up to the maximum price indicated in your offer.  The computerised system will bid for you. Each lot is sold at the lowest increment that exceeds all competing bids. If there are no competing bids, the lots will be sold at the starting price.

Absentee bids can also be submitted by email. Please complete the form and send it to enquiries@harmers.com no later than 12 hours before the auction, together with a copy of your I.D.

Payment

We will only release property to you once payment has been received. Please note Harmers cannot accept third party payments; therefore, bank account from which funds are being transferred should match the name of the Harmers account holder.
